Mo'Blast Flashcards

This was a quick and simple project to show the functionality of an iPhone app in a way that prospective users could see before downloading the app. It uses Javacript and a little AJAX and some nice graphics provided by the client.

Mo'Blast VIA/Localshops

This project consisted of a static corporate homepage, and a Wordpress blog to showcase each of their new products. The static site includes a self-validating contact form using a customised jNice styling scheme, and randomising header images.

The blog templates are similar to each other though the preloaded header images differ, as do the layout of the main navbars. They feature a modified retweeter, customised threaded comments, and changes to the way images in posts are displayed on different pages.

This is an ongoing project with many different areas being developed constantly.

Retirement Pursuits

This was a complete Joomla build including installation, template design and customisation of all components and modules. The design was supplied by the client, and the designer oversaw all work on behalf of the client.

The site makes use of a heavily customised Sobi2 Business Index component to achieve the exact functionality that the client wanted around the display format of the different categories of listings. It also uses a custom written module to display a limited number of Sobi sub-categories, and features changes to other standard modules and components of Joomla.

The code is fully compliant and works in the main current browsers.

Twitter Backdrop

A pure design job intending to show the interests and contacts for the client. This one can be viewed at different screen sizes, with the information still being visible. It's built around a 'desk and notepad' theme, though the thumbnail doesn't adequately show the detail of the backdrop.

The client has asked for a a screen width of 1400px to be accommodated, so the 1280px wide screen size does not line up perfectly.

Money Wordpress Theme

This was a simple customisation of an existing theme credited to 'anonymous' in the theme header. It involved widening the template, adding rounded tabs above the header, improving the shape and graphics of the footer, improving the background, changing the title backgrounds in the main body, and changing the heading backgrounds and search box in the sidebar.

This has not yet been hosted by the client, so a link is not available.

Overworld Tshirts

A group of three Printfection stores linked together under this parent store and providing templates that can be re-used by the client in subsequent stores.

Designs were provide by the client, but needed to use techniques not fully supported by the Printfection standard code, such as store-linking and full-width templates.

These are based on HTML/CSS as well as using some inbuilt Printfection functions and a little Javascript, and validate across all the major browsers.

Yeast Remedy

A simple copy-and-replace design for an existing site owned by the same client. This included cleaning the existing HTML/CSS code, and replacing content, graphics and logos.

The image shown here is about one quarter of the actual length of the page itself.

Ruby on Ramaze, Haml/Sass

This project was to build a simple but functional front end for a logging system for experimental data as a demonstration of a pre-alpha project-proposal. It was built on a Ruby codebase around a Ramaze framework, with all code in Haml/Sass rather than HTML/CSS, and using Javascript functions from the jQuery library.

The was a private project for a US Government contract and is not hosted on any live server, so a link cannot be provided.

Lively Dating Australia

This is one of a series of nine almost identical sites that are currently under progress, though the initial stages have all been completed. This involved installation of the osDate dating package, template installation and customisation, alterations to the Captcha system, installation of a live support module, integration of the PHP121 instant messenger, and various administrative tweaks and changes.

This is still a work-in-progress.

Everything In Nakhon Si Thammarat

A bespoke site in static HTML/CSS featuring a Flash interactive map and inter-page Flash communication, Slimbox picture viewer, RSS feed, Javascript advertisements and a little PHP. It uses an converted third-party template design and is compatible with IE 6/7, Firefox, Safari and Opera.

The requirements for the site were very clear and we were pleased to produce a result that exactly met the owner's wishes. This represents our biggest project so far and one that we continue to maintain. It currently runs at over 80 large-volume pages, and is definitely a candidate for a transfer to Joomla! CMS.

Clean Air Woody

A redesign from an existing site, though only the pictures were finally reused. This was written in HTML/CSS with some use of Javascript to display enlarged images. The website needed to reflect the nature of the business, and the client was very exact about certain requirements. Especially, it need to be clean, professional. All HTML and CSS has been fully validated, and the site is consistent across IE6/7/8, FF3, Safari and Opera.

At present only the front page design has been completed until content is available for further pages.

Dogs Cats n Pets

A completely designed theme, with the client providing wirtten content and requirements about affiliate advertising. This was written in HTML/CSS with some form validation in Javascript. Lots of information needed to be presented in a visually appealing way without resorting to long pages of text.

All HTML and CSS has been fully validated, and the site is consistent across IE6/7/8, FF3, Safari and Opera.

Veronica

This was an implementation of a provided design into XHTML and CSS, with the addition of a second template page. The design includes matched-length columns in the centre column, but otherwise is quite a simple design. It fully validates, and the site is consistent across IE6/7/8, FF3, Safari and Opera.

Yeoser's Beach Resort

A complete design from scratch including all written content, this was written in HTML/CSS with some use of Javascript to display a Google map. The website needed to be compact and interesting, and to use make use of images of the resort, but without overcrowding the pages. Therefore, CSS tricks were used to provide accessibility to larger images without needing to display them all at once. The site is also dual language with all pages being mirrored in Thai.

All HTML and CSS has been fully validated, and the site is consistent across IE6/7/8, FF3, Safari and Opera.

Kahkashan

This site is based around Joomla! CMS and uses a custom-designed template using a Flash header and bold colours. Intended to be a micro-community page for students, it features a chat-room, forum, photo gallery and video gallery as well as a section for users to upload personal statements about their university experiences. This part of the website required customisation of the SectionEx Joomla! component to display web links in a uniform format.

The client also requested that this website should be accessible to partially sighted customers, and so it features selectable high-contrast colour schemes and changeable font-sizes. It is compatible with IE 6/7/8, Firefox, Safari and Opera and is fully validated.

Cellphones.org

The client wanted to take a long list of information for each product page on an existing website and display it in tabs on one viewable page. The style needed to be in keeping with the rest of the site. This was achieved using HTML/CSS and Javascript, with some custom graphics for the tabs.

Friends Of Suan Mokkh

Built around Joomla! CMS, this uses a third-party template adapted to allow the use of advertisements, and the template for the website forum has been redesigned to allow the theme to be consistent across all pages. It is fully compatible with IE 6/7, Firefox, Safari and Opera.

Few additional modules have been used, as the intention was for the design to remain relatively simple and not detract from the content of the site. This was a great collaborative effort with all of the photos being kindly donated by previous attendees at the retreat.

Thailand Musings

A straightforward Wordpress blog, this used a heavily customised third-party template, with amendments to allow Adsense advertisements on the site. Fully compatible with IE 6/7, Firefox, Safari and Opera.

No additional widgets or plugins were required by the owner, so this is a good example of what a simple, clean Wordpress blog can look like when using a darker theme.
